1st Anniversary of CARMA and Our Minnesota Office

This month marks the one-year anniversary of opening our Mendota Heights, Minnesota office and launching the Compliance and Risk Mitigation Assistance (CARMA) Program. It has been an exciting year as that program has taken off and taken hold as a resource primarily for insurers, fraternal benefit societies and IMOs who are looking to understand their compliance risk and take concrete steps to mitigate that risk. 

Co-Directors of the CARMA Program, Maureen James and Roger Hayashi, joined CCS with over 25 years of experience each in positions within the insurance compliance space. They brought substantial expertise with them and they demonstrate everyday how their broad range of experiences brings tremendous value to CCS clients in the CARMA program. Examples of the types of services they have provided this year include: comprehensive assessments of firm-wide compliance controls, assessments of suitability programs—focusing in particular on the role of supervision—monitoring and reports to senior management, drafting, reviewing and revising insurer and fraternal compliance manuals for independent agents, and advertising review for carriers, IMOs and individual agents.

Both Roger and Maureen have recently conducted free webinars – currently available on our website webinar page – on Sales Practice Risks and Strategies to Mitigate Them (Roger) and Back Office Compliance Risks (Maureen). Both are actively at work on compliance training courses for our education platform, Currin Insurance Compliance Education (CICEd) Program. These provide tremendous value by bringing compliance training, usually available only in-person at limited times and locations, right to your desk. Finding quality compliance training has been a challenge in the past, but now it is easy and affordable.
