Cease, Desist, and Pay Up: Washington's Response to Zion Health's Insurance Violations

In its protracted legal battle with the Washington Office of the Insurance Commissioner (OIC), Zion Health (Zion) received a Final Order on December 19, 2023, as outlined in a Press Release dated January 3, 2024. The initial order, which initiated the entire process, was issued in February 2022 (Initial Order). According to the Final Order, the initial 2022 directive included a cease and desist, an assessment of premium tax and penalties, along with a $50,000 fine.

From Fires to Dream Homes: NAIC's Report on Dwelling and Homeowners Insurance 

The NAIC has issued a 188-page Report dated December 2023, titled “Dwelling Fire, Homeowners Owner-Occupied, and Homeowners Tenant and Condominium/Cooperative Unit Owner’s Insurance Report: Data for 2021.” The report aims to furnish comprehensive information on national and state-specific premiums and exposure data for noncommercial dwelling fire insurance and homeowners insurance package policies.
